Just repaired an aerial for a customer in Garelochhead. He had previously phoned in another company to install a new aerial. The old aerial was on a swan neck pole secured to the chimney the other aerial company left the old aerial to rust on the pole not leaving enough space to fix the new aerial to a straight part of the pole. They secured the new aerial to a slanted part of the pole which meant the aerial was sitting at a slanted angle which reduced any signal the aerial received. Also, there was an unnecessary 12” cable added to the original cable I believe the reason for this was the 12” cable was already connected to this newer aerial they installed and they just couldn't be bothered to remove the 12” cable from the aerial so they just joined it onto the original cable. Now the only scenario I can think of that would fit this is that the aerial was salvaged from some other address. Which means it was second hand and was deliberately mis-sold as brand new. Also, I'm not sure if it was stupidity or deliberate but all the connections between the cables and aerial were all sealed with electrical tape which isn't waterproof and would have quickly failed due to water ingress.
I'm just stunned at the poor standard of workship that one of my competitors supplies to their customers. I'm more confident than ever that I will make a success of this new business. Once my reputation for taking pride in the neat, professional, reasonably priced work I perform for my customers spreads.

I have installed satellite dishes on high rise flats, houses, sheds, garages, static caravans and even on trees to get a signal. But never on a boat so this was definitely a first for me.

This customer was refused a skyq installation by a sky engineer for health and safety reasons. So he was left with no other option except paying to get the dish installed by a third party, he contacted me through Facebook and I arrived the following day and even though it was quite an awkwardly high job I managed to install this zone 1 dish with a wideband lnb suitable for a skyq installation for £125. The customer is now happy that he is now able to get himself a skyq box. JOB DONE =)

Replaced a waterlogged aerial installed on the top of this pole on their chimney resecured the pole to the chimney because the coach bolts had been pulled out from the brickwork probably during a bad storm. So the aerials on the pole are no longer waving around in the wind. And extended cable inside the house so it would now reach their TV. I have Been informed that the customer is delighted with my work and price.

On Wednesday I fitted this 2 room aerial installation and hang a 32" TV on a bedroom wall for a property in Blantyre. Customer was very happy with the swift service and low price.

Just learned that since around 4 pm the signal from Millburn Muir Freeview transmitter is back on. Anyone who is still having signal Issues should retune their tv's to reacquire the signal.

Since around 4pm on the 19th march Millburn Muir Freeview transmitter has not been operating. I have checked the Freeview website there is a mention that it is faulty, but no estimate on when it will be repaired. I'm afraid anyone with no signal problems in Alexandria and Dumbarton areas will have to wait till the transmitter is repaired to get your TV Signal back.
